dust-2.0-Imager (c) 2000-2004 ordure.org by Adrian Ward adrian@signwave.co.uk ABOUT THIS SOFTWARE Given time, any digital storage medium loses its data. Corruption sets in as bit-rot spreads. The image on the left is the original, the image on the right slowly turns to dust. The decay is triggered by viewing the image. The more people that view the image, the more prevalent its decay. ABOUT THIS VERSION This is the second version of dust from ordure.org. Since the first version used an obsolete version of GD.pm, which relied on an ancient libgd with gif support, it makes sense to move to this latest version. This implementation uses Imager, a module from CPAN which uses libpng amongst others. Imager is far superior to GD.pm. The original dust was started in August 2000. dust-2000.png shows the original image. dust-2004.png shows the file as of February 2004.
